Join us on Saturday, July 27th for local performances, a Walk Against Social Isolation, Skateboarding Jam, and a community meal to celebrate belonging in Rhinelander! Artists Witt Siasoco and Norma Dycus Pennycuff, in collaboration with ArtStart Rhinelander, the City of Rhinelander, local youth and community service organizations, will premiere a public art installation located in the Beach House at Hodag Park. The event will take place from 3:30-8:30pm. All are welcome.

  • ArtStart, a community arts organization, is leading the project in Rhinelander alongside the City Council. The team is working with area healthcare providers and social service organizations on addressing mental health and isolation. They are working with local youth to co-design and build a new skatepark with integrated art elements and youth arts opportunities to provide an ongoing oasis of gathering, creativity and support for teenagers. They are also working with the county’s Aging and Disability Resource Center on art programs for adults with memory loss. Both projects are creating ongoing opportunities for art creation as a space for connection and social cohesion. The project will culminate in July 2024 with the installation of a public sculpture by artists Witt Siasoco and Norma Dycus Pennycuff. The piece Console Console will consist of two parts: 1. Sculpture Installation located in the Beach House at Hodag Park in Rhinelander and 2. Series of Poetic Banners hung along the Hodag Park pathway. On Saturday, July 27 the team will culminate the project with an event consisting of performances and a community meal.
